Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Resources

Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Resources

Welcome

Join the AF Association and AC Forum in supporting Global AF Aware Week 2025, taking place November 17–23. This year’s theme, “Reset the Rhythm, Reclaim Your Life,” encourages individuals worldwide to take control of their heart health by learning about atrial fibrillation (AFib), checking their pulse, and taking proactive steps toward living well with this common heart rhythm disorder.

AFib does not have to define life for those diagnosed. With timely detection, the right treatment, and ongoing support, people with AF can live fully and fearlessly. This year’s campaign focuses on hope, empowerment, and the lifesaving importance of early detection. When left unidentified or untreated, AFib can lead to serious—and sometimes fatal—complications, including stroke and heart failure.

AFib is the most common sustained heart rhythm disorder, affecting over 59 million people worldwide. Though often invisible, its impact can be severe:

  • AFib increases the risk of stroke by up to five times, and AFib-related strokes are frequently more debilitating.
  • AFib is associated with a three-fold increased risk of developing heart failure.
  • Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can prevent around two-thirds of AFib-related strokes and significantly reduce the risk of other serious complications.

Help spread the message by sharing campaign tools, engaging in awareness activities, and encouraging your communities to take action. All the resources you need to get involved are available here. Together, we can reset the rhythm for millions and improve AF awareness and care worldwide.

Clinical Application of Real-World Evidence for Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation and the Treatment of Venous Thromboembolism (CARE-AF/VTE Program)

Despite the proven efficacy of oral anticoagulants for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation and treating acute venous thromboembolism, many eligible patients either miss guideline-recommended therapy or receive incorrect dosages, leading to suboptimal outcomes. These gaps in clinician knowledge contribute to underuse, inappropriate dosing, and poor clinical decision-making, especially in high-risk populations.

Anticoagulation for AF, VTE and PVT in Cirrhosis

Tuesday | October 8, 2024 | 12:00 am ET

Join us for an insightful webinar on the complexities of anticoagulation management for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), venous thromboembolism (VTE), and portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in the context of cirrhosis. Join this opportunity to enhance your understanding and clinical practice in these challenging scenarios. Learning objectives: (1) Review challenges of anticoagulation in cirrhosis (2) Describe indications for anticoagulation in AF, VTE and PVT in cirrhosis (3) Discuss evidence for DOAC use in AF, VTE and PVT in cirrhosis (4) Apply information above to patient cases
