David Garcia, MD completed internal medicine residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and hematology fellowship at the University of Washington. He has been Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology at the University of Washington since 2013. Dr. Garcia has been either an investigator or steering committee member for numerous clinical trials related to the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disease, and he is a past-President of the Anticoagulation Forum. In addition to being a current member of the AC Forum Board of Directors, Dr. Garcia is the senior Co-director for the American Society of Hematology’s Clinical Research Training Institute and was the 2017 Chairman of the ASH Scientific Committee on Thrombosis and Vascular Biology. Dr. Garcia has authored or co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Blood, Archives of Internal Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, the British Journal of Hematology, Stroke, and Circulation, has been involved with the development of international guidelines, and has served in an editorial capacity for several high-impact publications such as Blood and ACP Journal Club.
